Proposed Departmental Mascot

  1. I think the mascot should have a name. "Sconey" seems a bit too obvious, though.

  2. What will be really exciting is when we get the mascot costume---already in production---and junior faculty take turns wearing it to Important Department Events. Sign up early and often!

  3. I think the beignet's name is Brian. The scone looks like a "Cath" to me (for at least another two weeks).

  4. So, we'll see you in the mascot's costume at Ryan's talk, then, Dr. Gouge?

  5. Dr. Gouge is too busy reveling in her teaching awards to respond. She'll be back sometime in the fall semester (I think). Seriously Dennis, a beignet? Baked, not deep-fried, thank you.

  6. @ Dennis: Where's the costume? Sure, I'll wear it.
@ Brian: You wish. I'll be back next Spring.

  7. @Catherine: Check with Brian to see if he's done sewing it.

@Brian: .....and we'll need that beignet outfit for graduation.

  8. I think you should refer to this great piece of bread as a "mountain Muffin"--Muffy, for short. The best mascot in several states, clearly beating out Kentucky's English department's "Bourbon Cream"--or "Creamy," and Pittsburgh's "Peter Pothole" known fondly as "Potty."
