Although, hmmm....
As Professor Hazen points out, yesterday's NYT article is a...uh...remake of an article from 2000. In the current one, though, Kirk is played by Robert Pattinson.
I just realized, for the first time, that I was in on the talk that Professor Hazen gave at Ritchie County Middle School in 2000. I was in 8th grade. I never made the connection that the charismatic guy speaking to an auditorium full of middle-schoolers was my charismatic professor several years later. Two seperate spheres of my world just collided, and in the New York Times, no less.
