Colloquium Deadline Extended until February 15th

By request and due to inclement weather, lack of power, and other such wintry complications, the organizers of this year's colloquium have extended the deadline. If you haven't submitted yet, please consider sending a brief email to ego.wvu@gmail.com with a little information about something you've done and would like to share.

We've had a great response from area schools, including universities in Ohio that are sending students for the first time, so send us your proposals for individual papers or panels to make sure that WVU is well represented.

This year's colloquium features our distinguished keynote Christina Straub and our annual tradition of awarding "The Beagle." (More on this illustrious award for the professor of the most assistance to graduate students as the event approaches--Jay, enjoy your last month with the doggie statue.) It's set to be a wonderful event, but your participation is what really makes it worth while.

English majors: tell us your story

We’d like to get some stories about the various career paths our graduates have taken. We’re developing an alumni profiles page for our department website. Send us a short piece (~200 words) on how you use skills you developed as an English major at WVU in your work, or what your path was from majoring in English at WVU to where you are today. Please attach a photo and tell us what your current position is and the date(s) of your degree(s) from WVU. Send this to Tim Sweet tsweet@wvu.edu
We look forward to hearing from you.

If not enlightening, then certainly relatable.

This announcement went to all grad students this morning:

Want to commiserate with fellow grad students about the trials of life in graduate school?

Attend a seminar and book signing with Jorge Cham, the author of the Ph.D. comic strip, "Piled Higher and Deeper!"

Dr. Cham's lecture will take place Thursday, April 22nd starting at 6:00 PM on the downtown campus. The presentation will last approximately 1 hour, and will be followed by a book signing.
